Running Setup on Windows

Follow the instructions in this chapter to use the NerveCenter Setup program to install the NerveCenter components listed in the following table:

NerveCenter Components

Component

Description

NerveCenter Client

Lets you monitor your network, as well as design and manage behavior models.

NerveCenter Administrator

Lets you configure NerveCenter.

NerveCenter Server

Carries out all major tasks, including polling SNMP agents, triggering alarms, and making sure that alarm transitions occur.

Platform Adapters

Integrate NerveCenter with supported network management platforms. (See the Release Notes for a complete list.)

NerveCenter Web support

Integrates NerveCenter with supported Web servers. (See the Release Notes for a complete list.)

Online documentation

Provides the NerveCenter library in HTML with a full-text search engine. (PDF versions are also installed for printing. See readme.txt in the docs directory for more information.)

Seagate Crystal Reports 6.0

Lets you create reports that you can use to publish NerveCenter data.


 

You can install the components on any machine that meets the configuration requirements. (See the Release Notes.) For information about upgrading from an older version of NerveCenter, see Upgrading to NerveCenter 3.7.


Caution    Before you install NerveCenter, make sure you meet the prerequisites. See Preparing to Install NerveCenter on Windows.


Instead of using the NerveCenter Setup GUI, you can take advantage of two other installation options: silent or remote. You can do a silent installation by editing NerveCenter configuration information in a text file, then running Setup from the command line. To do remote installations, you can use Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) tools. See Doing Silent and Remote Installations on Windows
