Upgrading to NerveCenter 3.7

Caution    As with any software upgrade, you should always back up your NerveCenter data before proceeding with an upgrade. For UNIX users this includes backing up their nodes to a node file. For both UNIX and Windows users, the following data should be backed up: changes to MIB files, log files, models, and any other user data. For more information, refer to the books Upgrading to NerveCenter v3.7 and Installing NerveCenter.

Note    NerveCenter versions 2.6/2.7 and 3.02 are no longer supported. Upgrade instructions are available in Upgrading to NerveCenter v3.7.

Upgrade Information for MS-Access Users

Windows users that run NerveCenter with an MS-Access database should serialize their data before upgrading to NerveCenter v3.7, because version 3.7 of the SerializeDB utility does not serialize version 3.6 data.

Note    For your convenience, during a NerveCenter v3.7 upgrade, setup renames the NerveCenter 3.5 or 3.6 SerializeDB utility (serializedb.exe)to serializedb_35.exe or serializedb_36.exe respectively. To serialize data after a NerveCenter 3.7 upgrade, you must use serializedb_35.exe or serializedb_36.exe.

  To upgrade to NerveCenter 3.7 with an MS-Access database:

1. Before starting the NerveCenter upgrade, serialize your NerveCenter MS-Access database using SerializeDB.
2. As with any software upgrade, back up your database.
3. (Optional) uninstall NerveCenter v3.6.
4. Install NerveCenter 3.7.
5. Use DBWizard to create a NerveCenter 3.7 database and to load the serialized file you created in step 1.
