SNMP v3 Background

It is strongly recommended that NerveCenter 3.7 users familiarize themselves with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v3. For more information, refer to the SNMP v3 RFCs:

• 2571 -- An Architecture for Describing SNMP Management Frameworks
• 2572 -- Message Processing and Dispatching for the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

Getting Started

Before attempting to manage SNMP v3 nodes, refer to the "Node Classification" white paper (docs/pdf/nodeclassif.pdf) and the Managing NerveCenter online book (docs/pdf/managing.pdf). These documents provide information specific to NerveCenter implementation of SNMP v3. Similar helpful information is also found in NerveCenter Client or Administrator online help (accessed by selecting the Help button in NerveCenter).
