Trap Configuration

The Trap Options dialog box lets you decide whether NerveCenter will process traps from SNMP v3 entities (in addition to traps from SNMP v1 and v2c agents).

If you decide to enable SNMP v3 trap support, before leaving the Trap Options dialog you must:

• Stop the OV Trap Service (ovtrapd) on co-resident NerveCenter Servers

     Because HP OpenView does not yet support SNMP v3, whenever you shut down OVTrapD, OV's event list will not be updated with external traps or NerveCenter inform events. In this scenario, OV can only receive symbol updates.

• Stop and disable the Microsoft Trap Service (SNMP Trap Service) on both co-resident and non-co-resident NerveCenter Servers

  

 
  To specify SNMP v3 trap support:

1. Check the Services applet in the Windows Control panel to make sure that the MS Trap Service or the OV Trap Service is stopped and disabled.
2. Select the Enable SNMP v3 Trap Support checkbox.
3. Select Next.
