Error Messages

NerveCenter displays the following error messages on the Query page of the NerveCenter Client's Node Definition window:

NerveCenter SNMP v3 Error Messages

Error Message Description Resolution

NC_V3UNSUPPORTEDSEC_LEVEL

The SNMP agent does not support the security level in the PDU.

The security level of the agent differs from the security level you have selected for this node. Find out which security level is in place on the agent (NoAuthNoPriv, AuthNoPriv, or AuthPriv), and then change your node's configuration to match this.

NC_V3NOTINTIMEWINDOW

The SNMP agent and NerveCenter are not in sync. This means that the timeticks differ more than 180 ms between the agent and NerveCenter.

After getting this error, NerveCenter automatically syncs with the SNMP agent.

NC_V3UNKNOWNUSERNAME

The user name configured with agent and the user name specified in NerveCenter do not match.

Either reconfigure the user name used by the SNMP agent to match the one used by NerveCenter, or change the user name in NerveCenter to match the agent's. Refer to Managing NerveCenter for more information.

NC_V3UNKNOWNENGINEID

The engine ID in the PDU does not match the one on the agent.

The agent on the node may have changed since the node was first discovered by NerveCenter to be a v3 node and initialized. Change the SNMP version of the node to UNKNOWN and save the node. Re-classify the node by pressing the Classify button on the SNMP page of the Node Definition window. Set the Security Level and Authentication for the node and save this. Now re-query the node. This should reset the copy of the Engine-ID that NerveCenter has stored for this node.

NC_V3UNAVAILABLECONTEXT

The context name in the PDU is not configured on the SNMP agent's side.

Configure the SNMP agent's context name.

NC_V3UNKNOWNCONTEXT

The context name in the PDU is not configured on the SNMP agent's side.

Configure the SNMP agent's context name.

NC_V3WRONGDIGEST

The authentication digest does not match with the one on the SNMP agent.

The authentication password that you have configured for NerveCenter might have changed on the agent since NerveCenter first initialized this node for v3 communications. Find out what the appropriate Authentication Password is, and change it for NerveCenter in the SNMPv3 page of the server window in the NerveCenter Administrator.

NC_V3DECRYPTIONERROR

There was a problem decrypting the data encrypted with the privacy protocol.

The Authentication protocol that you have configured for this node in NerveCenter most likely differs from the one used by the agent. You may also want to confirm the correctness of the Privacy Password that you have configured for NerveCenter.
