Installing NerveCenter Remotely

After you have create the source installation directory and edited the configuration file, you can create an SMS package and install that package on other machines remotely.

 
  To install NerveCenter remotely:

  1. Create a new SMS package for NerveCenter by doing the following:
    1. From the SMS Administrator toolbar, select the Open Window: Packages button.

      The Packages window appears.

    2. Select the New button to display the Packages Properties dialog box.
    3. Select Import to display the File Browser dialog box.
    4. Navigate to your package source directory and select NCSetup.pdf, then select OK.
    5. In the Package Properties dialog box, select Workstations to display the Setup Packages for Workstations dialog box.
    6. In the Source Directory box, specify the server and sharename of the package source directory, and select Close.
    7. Select OK again when prompted for confirmation.

      The new package is displayed in the Packages window.

  2. Using the SMS Administrator, create a Run Command On Workstation task to install NerveCenter on a specified drive on specified SMS computers by doing the following:
    1. From the SMS Administrator toolbar, select the Open Window: Jobs button.

      The Job window appears.

    2. Select the New button to display the Job Properties dialog box.
    3. Select Details to display the Job Details dialog box.
    4. In the Job Target area, specify the SMS computer (in the Machine Path field) or machine group (in the Machine Group field) on which NerveCenter should be installed.

        Note    The destination machine must be part of the SMS database.
    5. Make sure the Run Workstation Command box is checked, and select the Install NerveCenter command.

When you close the Job Properties dialog box, the task is set to run. When the task completes, the specified NerveCenter components will be installed on the specified drive and directory on all target computers.
